Ultraviolet
(UV) Disinfection
HydroQual process engineers have pioneered the use of UV disinfection of
water and wastewater, and have led the development of testing protocols for
UV applications. Over the past three decades, HydroQual has conducted numerous
research and demonstration projects that have advanced the technology and
its application, including authoring the UV-related sections of the USEPA
Municipal Disinfection Design Manual. Our engineers have also assisted clients
directly in the development of designs and specifications for UV systems,
and have extensive experience in direct field evaluations of existing systems.
HydroQual operates the UV Validation and
Research Center of New York in Johnstown, NY and has the ability to meet
current validation protocols for UV test reactors from point-of-entry scale
up to 24 million gallons per day (mgd), with plans to expand the facility’s
capacity in the near future. HydroQual can accurately test UV systems to
verify performance for wastewater, reuse and drinking water applications.
