Recent Harbor Survey data collected by the New York City Dept. of Environmental Protection near the mouth of Sheepshead Bay indicate compliance with Class I dissolved oxygen, total coliform, and fecal coliform standards.

Recreational Boating and Fishing;
Fishing Piers and marinas are situated on the north side of the bay;
The marinas house fishing fleets, charter boats, party boats, private boats.
